Before joining the Center for Leadership Solutions, Michael was a professor at Brigham Young University
for eight years. He has designed and taught courses for every level of learner, from grade schoolers
through graduate students, working professionals, and retirees. He has taught, trained and lectured
throughout the United States, Latin America and Europe. His current emphasis is on leadership training
for IT professionals and driving change in IT organizations. He has coached and trained hundreds of IT
leaders throughout the country and has helped design IT change initiatives at a number of major
corporations. Widely recognized for his dynamic teaching and lecturing, Michael is also the author
or editor of more than 35 books, articles, and reviews and serves on the board of several associations
and foundations. In addition, he is a Leadership Associate of the Institute for Educational Inquiry
and an Associate of the Center for the Improvement of Teacher Education and Schooling. The recipient
of numerous research grants and awards, he worked for the May Department Stores Company prior to his
academic career. Michael has a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago's Committee on the History of
Culture and both an MA and BA from Brigham Young University.
